When I was in elementary school, I knew people who had "jacks" and they looked like the above. The game they played was also called "jacks." I played it a couple of times, but was mostly interested in bouncing the ball. Apparently, the original game was called "knucklebones," with references in literature as old as Homer's Iliad. For my purposes, I enjoy the jacks when they act as tiny mirrors, reflecting the red in the ball, as well as other background colors. I might be in there as well.
