The purpose of this website is to give those who are interested in my work an opportunity to see what I have done.  I regularly update this site with new works.

 

I began my art career at age 50.  I completed my first painting in November, 2007, and sold my first piece in March of 2009.

 

Thus far, my work has been an exploration of realism and acrylic painting.  I try to paint what I see, as cliché as it sounds.  While I am focusing on a subject, I try to identify aspects and details I had not previously noticed.  I enjoy painting real subjects, focusing my attention on what I often take for granted.

 

I plan on spending the second half of my life learning about and exploring the visual arts.  I love the process of painting. My hope is to create art that is meaningful and beautiful to others.

 

Jenny Honnert Abell has been a wonderful source of support and advice in helping me in my development as an artsit.

My son, James Swearingen, created this site for me.
